Gray wolves, like humans, become noticably whiter in the hair as they reach old age. Typical agouti wolves turn white and black wolves become silver.
However, the black color comes from dogs, which do not fade as much as their wild counterparts, so wolves more recently related to dogs tend to retain their black coats longer, thus explaining why the other black wolf at the Phillips Park Zoo is still predominently dark and this one is silver, despite both wolves being born in the same year.
Bring that up in Biology or something and see if you get a lollipop. Teachers do that to make kids be quite XD
